Professional Training in Luxembourg

Accounting, Excel and company law: tailored training programmes to strengthen your teams’ skills.

In a constantly evolving regulatory environment, continuous training of your administrative, accounting and finance teams is essential to maintain operational efficiency and compliance with Luxembourg standards. Whether it involves mastering fundamental accounting techniques, fully leveraging financial analysis tools, or understanding corporate legal obligations, your employees need up-to-date skills that can be applied directly in their day-to-day work.

Many Luxembourg companies identify gaps in their teams’ skill sets: difficulties in processing complex accounting transactions, underuse of Excel’s analytical capabilities, limited understanding of legal and tax obligations, or lack of rigour in applying accounting standards. These shortcomings lead to costly errors, wasted time and compliance risks that can significantly impact your company’s performance.

With over 20 years of experience acquired in Big 4 firms and recognised expertise in Luxembourg accounting, taxation and company law, we offer professional training programmes tailored to the specific needs of your organisation. Our training combines theory and practice through real-life case studies, immediately applicable exercises and personalised support. Our objective is to sustainably strengthen your teams’ skills, reduce errors and improve the quality of your administrative and financial management.

Develop Your Teams’ Skills

Continuous professional training is a strategic investment for any company seeking to maintain high levels of competence and improve operational performance. In accounting, finance and legal matters, regulatory changes in Luxembourg are frequent (new accounting standards, tax amendments, legislative changes), and tools evolve constantly. Without regular training, employees risk falling behind, making errors due to lack of awareness, or failing to fully exploit the tools available to them.

Investing in staff training generates immediate and long-term benefits: reduction of accounting and administrative errors, time savings through better mastery of techniques and tools, improved quality of financial analysis and reporting, stronger compliance with legal and tax obligations, and increased employee motivation and engagement. Our training programmes are designed to be fully operational: each participant leaves with knowledge that can be applied immediately, practical tools (Excel templates, checklists, memos), and the confidence to implement best practices in their professional environment.

Our Training Programmes

We offer three professional training programmes designed to meet the specific needs of Luxembourg companies. Each programme can be tailored to your business context, industry sector and participants’ skill levels. Discover our three areas of expertise.

General Accounting Training

Mastery of fundamental accounting techniques is essential for all employees involved in processing accounting transactions. Our general accounting training covers all the knowledge and skills required to maintain accounting records in compliance with Luxembourg standards and to produce reliable financial statements.

Programme de la formation. We cover the principles of double-entry bookkeeping, the structure and logic of the Luxembourg chart of accounts, and proper classification of accounts. Participants learn how to correctly record day-to-day transactions: purchases of goods and services (with or without VAT), sales and service revenues, banking and cash transactions, fixed assets and depreciation, provisions and value adjustments, and accruals and deferrals. We also address year-end closing entries: straight-line and declining-balance depreciation under Luxembourg tax rules, provisions for risks and charges, inventory valuation and impairment, prepaid expenses and accrued income, bank reconciliations and account matching. The training includes practical exercises based on real-life cases to ensure participants fully understand and can apply the concepts.

Public concerné. Accounting assistants, administrative staff responsible for bookkeeping, finance and administration managers wishing to strengthen their fundamentals, and anyone handling accounting documents.

Durée et format. 1 to 3 days depending on participants’ initial level and identified needs. Training can be delivered on-site, at our offices, or in a blended format (in-person with remote follow-up).

Management Accounting and Excel Training

Financial analysis and performance management require specific tools and methodologies that go beyond general accounting. Our management accounting and Excel training enables you to implement relevant analytical systems and fully exploit Excel’s capabilities to produce dashboards, profitability analyses and decision-support tools.

Programme de la formation. We begin with the fundamentals of management accounting: differences between financial and management accounting, cost classification (direct and indirect costs, fixed and variable costs), costing methods (full costing, marginal costing, ABC method), profitability analysis by product, service or project, break-even analysis, margin and contribution analysis. The Excel component focuses on essential features for financial analysis: advanced functions (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF functions, SUMIFS), pivot tables for multidimensional data analysis, charts and visualisations for reporting, basic macro automation, creation of dynamic and interactive dashboards, and consolidation of data from multiple sources. All exercises are based on practical cases inspired by real Luxembourg business situations.

Public concerné. Controllers, finance and administration managers, CFOs, accountants seeking to develop analytical skills, and anyone responsible for reporting and performance analysis.

Durée et format. 2 to 4 days depending on participants’ Excel proficiency and specific needs. Each participant works on their own computer using Excel files provided and retained after the training.

Legal Training for Directors and Staff

A solid understanding of the Luxembourg legal framework is essential for company directors and employees responsible for administrative or financial functions. Our legal training covers key legal obligations and best practices to secure corporate management and avoid errors with potentially serious consequences.

Programme de la formation. Training content is tailored to your needs and participant profiles. Topics may include: Luxembourg company law (legal forms, governance, directors’ obligations, personal liability, mandatory annual formalities), accounting and publication obligations (annual accounts, management report, statutory registers, Register of Beneficial Owners), corporate taxation (corporate income tax, municipal business tax, net wealth tax, VAT, withholding taxes and main filing obligations), labour law (employment contracts, terminations, employer obligations, ITM inspections), and data protection (GDPR as applied to Luxembourg companies). We can also organise training on more specific topics: management of general meetings and boards, amendments to articles of association and restructurings, share transfers, special tax regimes (SOPARFI, SPF), double tax treaties, banking compliance and anti-money laundering requirements. Each session is interactive and includes practical examples, case studies and dedicated Q&A time to address your specific issues.

Public concerné. Company directors (managers, directors), finance and administration managers, accounting staff, and anyone responsible for legal obligations or corporate decision-making.

Durée et format. 0.5 to 2 days depending on selected topics. In-person training is recommended to encourage interaction and discussion.

Will artificial intelligence really replace accountants?

Will artificial intelligence really replace accountants?

The business press regularly announces the programmed disappearance of the accounting profession under the effect of automation and artificial intelligence. This catastrophic view ignores the reality on the ground: AI does not eliminate the accounting profession, it removes repetitive tasks and enhances human expertise. The accountant becomes the controller and analyst of algorithmic outputs, with a role that evolves towards more strategic advice and the interpretation of complex situations.

Investment tax credit: the obligation to obtain a MyGuichet certificate since January 2025

Since 1 January 2025, Luxembourg companies wishing to benefit from the investment tax credit for digital or ecological transformation must mandatorily obtain a certificate issued by the Ministry of the Economy via the MyGuichet.lu platform. This new administrative step conditions the application of the preferential 12 percent rate in the tax return. Without this prior document, the tax advantage becomes inapplicable.

Cross-border B2C services: when Luxembourg VAT does not apply

Cross-border B2C services: when Luxembourg VAT does not apply

Many Luxembourg companies providing services to private individuals in France or Belgium systematically apply Luxembourg VAT due to a lack of awareness of place-of-supply rules. This practice exposes managers to severe tax reassessments. Services linked to a specific property or location must be invoiced with the VAT of the country where they are actually performed, regardless of the service provider’s place of establishment.
